Control Cavities

Shielding control cavities.

Radio Frequency (RF) can do nasty things to your sound. radio stations, fluorescent lighting, even cell phones can interfere with your signal and create interference.   To combat that we shield the electronics with what’s known as a Faraday Cage. There’s two common ways to do this.  With foil (copper or aluminum) or with conductive paint. Here’s a quick look at the control cavities of the latest builds getting their shielding treatment.  Two thick coats of conductive paint go into the electronics cavity. After its dried for 24 hours it gets tested for continuity. Afterwards the electronics get installed and connected to the electrical ground which reduces all that nasty noise, hum and radio interference. Why am I showing you this? Because some manufacturers simply don’t bother to do it. We do it to every guitar we build.
